I-reblog kung ayaw nyo ng katangahan at kalokohan
I do not exactly know what Cinemalaya’s goal is, but based on my perception of Cinemalaya, it wants to deviate from the commercially produced films, it does not want its films to be producer-centric basically. But based on what’s happening now, Cinemalaya is acting like it’s the big producer who can make changes as major as the casting. Yes, they may have understood the story so well that they came to the conclusion that Joy Viado and Allen Paule would not “click”, but what they did not understand (perhaps) is the intention of the filmmakers. Cinemalaya should have just suggested.
I understand that Cinemalaya will be funding the film, and it is important for them to decide what would the moviegoers would like or not like. But it kind of defeats the (perceived) purpose of Cinemalaya. It make it seems like the filmmakers are not really malaya in making the film. Which is sad.
